AGSE 2018: Mother Earth – Geoscience for Crisis Management

AGSE 2018 Participant

The organizers invited to participate and explore the potential of geospatial technology and learn how Geospatial science and IT as well as remote sensing and photogrammetry act as a positive force for governments, society and industry providing support in a wide range of topics including disaster manegement, planning, development, utility and resource management, transportation, safety and emergency response, research and analysis.

The conference wasorganized by Namibia University of Science and Technology(NUSTI, Windhoek, Namibia) and Stuttgart University of Applied Sdences, Stuttgart Germany, co-organized by the ICA Commission on SDI
and Standards.

We were happy about about the contribution of the keynote speakers:

  • Christine Brönner, Geoinformation Management and Interoperability Expert (Germany)

After the workshop at University of Pretoria in September, the ICA Commission on SDI & Standards, organized also at the AGSE conference a two-day workshop on OGC specifications, 07-08 Nov 2018, presented by Prof Franz-Josef Behr from the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Co-Chair of the Commission. Delegates were introduced to the technological foundations behind of OGC specifications, there were hands-on sessions with specific implementations of OGC specifications, and an outlook into the future of OGC standardisation developments.

The workshops is co-organized by the Namibia Statistics Agency, coordinator of the NSDI for Namibia, and is part of the AGSE 2018 conference.
