Good news: AGSE 2017 is planned to take place 11 – 16 March 2017, at the International Campus of the University of Tehran on Kish Island. KIsh Island is a free trade zone and a pearl of the Persian Gulf, with its tourist and business attractions . Partner for this event is Prof. Dr. Hossein Arefi, one of the alumni of our Photogrammetry and Geoinforamtics programme, head of the local organising committee.
As you will know one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals is to “significantly reduce the number of deaths and the number of people affected […] caused by disasters, including water-related disasters, with a focus on protecting the poor and people in vulnerable situations”.
In order to contribute to this goal, our 8th AGSE conference/winter school will focus on “Crisis and Disaster Management”, i.e., the contribution of Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, and Planning to preparation, response, recovery, and mitigation of disasters.
We value your expertise in fields like natural resources management, agriculture, hydrology, and urban planning. We invite and encourage you to contribute actively to the preparation phase in the next months and to register for this event. Share your experience and knowledge. The website and registration portal wil be made available in the next weeks.
As in the years before we will have invited key talks, presentations, and workshops. Participation will qualify you to contribute still more intensively to the development on national and international levels.
After the event the reports and workshop materials will be introduced into E-Learning materials and activities which will be intergrated into the German Alumni Portal site.
